The Danish Team directed by Thomas Campana is the biggest protagonist in the Stage 8 of the 30th Giro Rosa Iccrea, where the Brit Elizabeth Banks was first and her American teammate Leah Thomas second. The Italian Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini) completed the stage podium. The special day for Bigla was crowned with the sign as main sponsor of the team for one more year.

Tappa 8 podio

The stage moved from Vittorio Veneto and it has been the longest with its 133 kms. The breakaway hadn't enough space in the first part of the stage, just the Romanian National Champion Ana Covrig (Eurotarget - Bianchi - Vittoria) won the first intermediate sprint.

The race became more interesting on the climb to Forcella di Pala Barzana (Cat. 2) where the Race Leader Annemiek Van Vleuten (Mitchelton - Scott) gained 30'', then the peloton took her in the descend. The breakaway of the day started before the climb to Clauzetto (Cat. 3) with the Italians Alice Maria Arzuffi (Valcar - Cylance) and Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini), the American Ruth Winder (Trek - Segafredo), the Dutch Pauline Rooijakkers (CCC-Liv), the Australian Shara Gillow (FDJ - Nouvelle Aquitaine - Futuroscope), the Polish Malgorzata Jasinska (Movistar Team), the German Kathrin Hammes (WNT Rotor), the former Green Jersey Sofie De Vuyst (Parkhotel Valkenburg) and the two Bigla riders Elizabeth Banks and Leah Thomas.

Their gap seems to vanish at 30 ksm to go but suddenly the Maglia Rosa group went slower and the gap always change until reaching about 2 minutes, The decisive attack by Banks arrived at less than 10 kms to go and due to the Bigla's teamwork she gain enough time to arrive solo in Piazza Italia in Maniago. Behind her a crash involved Ruth Winder and Alice Maria Arzuffi, and Leah Thomas, teammate of Elizabeth Banks, beated Soraya Paladin in a sprint for the second place.

The peloton of the Maglia Rosa arrived after 3 minutes and Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) won the sprint and Serbian Champion Jelena Eric (Alé - Cipollini) was 12th. Annemiek Van Vleuten resists in Pink Jersey, followed by Anna Van der Breggen (Boels - Dolmans) and Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon - SRAM). Soraya Paladin is now 7th at 6'06'' from the leader.

The penultimate stage, Gemona del Friuli - Chiusaforte/Malga Montasio, of 125.5 kms is very waited. the final climb has slopes until 20%.
